Rheumatoid arthritis, foot pain, (gout) can be a very painful issue. It is a condition that effects millions of people all over the world. In addition, some people who eat foods that contain a lot of purines are prone to gout attacks. Some of these foods are salmon type foods. Some medications make gout worse. Some medications are water pills, aspirin, cancer drugs and B-complex vitamins.

What are some of the treatments of rheumatoid arthritis, foot pain, (gout)? Go to the doctor if you have an affected joint in the toe. Your doctor will want to see you. If you don’t then it can last for weeks. You should not walk on it and rest it as much as you can. A hot pad and an ice pack will help the pain. Do not put any pressure on the foot. Anti-inflammatory medications can help with swelling.

Once your pain is subsided your doctor can prescribe medications and give you a cortisone shot. Medications can be prescribed to prevent gout attacks in the future. They wash out the uric acid from the joint and stop the swelling. The medications can also help uric acid from forming.

When you are overweight you will need to lose the extra weight. High blood pressure and high cholesterol need to be treated. If you drink alcohol and eat high purine food then you will need to drink a lot more water. Water will help flush uric acid from your body.
